Summary
This anime is set in the year 2022, when the new Virtual reality Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (VRMMORPG), known as Sword Art Online (SAO), has been released. This video game uses a virtual reality helmet, known as the Nerve Gear, which links directly to the brain. The very first day of the release thousands of people log in only to find out shortly after that the creator has done something terrible. The creator has forbidden all of the gamers from logging out unless they beat all of the tower levels, but there is a catch... if you die in the game, you die in real life. If any family member tries to remove the nerve gear you also die.
Why you should watch it
Great anime! There is a lot of action, and a fair amount of cute romance mixed in as well. The character development was superb, and plenty of character growth throughout the first season. The story and the script are very entertaining, and will keep you coming back for more. I am not sure if a second season has been discussed yet since the first one ended last month, but in my opinion the last episode seems to suggest another one in the future.
