“Sword Art Online” ova finished last year with an explosive finale that left some fans with the best early Christmas gift ever. While here in America we will have to wait for the DVD for us to truly fall in love with the series. Watching this show grow, twist and turn, it felt in the end like a great ride. Like most fans falling in love with the characters of Kirito and Asuna is easy. How they go from friends to guild mates watching how they fall in love and relay on each other. This show was made to ignite a love of anime for a new generation. The Original writer may have been infused by classics like ".hack," "Matrix," "Ghost in the shell,"and many other.
"Reki Kawahara" creator S.A.O. which was adapted from the short novel to create a game and three different manga’s. Reki's story shines through and is one of the best anime of the 2012 lineup. The way the worlds draw you in the heart warming way a loner becomes leader of a group of misfits. Tragedy follows everyone who get stuck in this crazy world where hope of escaping is always seem so far away. Boss battles, player vs player, showdowns keep this world fun, while the dungeons mean new levels of dangers. The 25 episode format does not leave the animator much time for fillers, but the time spent on the guilds and parties is a great take on this story type. While some of the story seems rushed animators take the time for you to get to know the main players from the manga. While not every character get the exposure they deserve, it is off to another battle to stay alive or acquire a rare treasure that might mean the difference between life and death.
The retelling of stories is what a lot of animes have done in recent years and we have seen this type of story before. Every year a new crop of kids minds are awaking to the anime style of storytelling. The concept are always fresh to young eyes who will look back and enjoy these great show as we the old school fan enjoy the show like "Ghost in the shell." love, revenge, sacrifice, hope, trust and two villains, one you learn to understand the antihero concept, with the latter being the embodiment of chaotic evil. In the end a fresh start for a classic tale shown with great dramatic detail filled with beautiful landscapes, great theme’s and powerful attacks. This is the first anime not to use magic users focusing more on the other character types, making it a lot different then shows like, ".hack." I give "Sword art online" a 4 out of 5 "S.A.O." looks at the "MMORPG" worlds is fun and when the characters explore Aincrad you feel right with them.
