San Jose California-based Switch Lighting has stepped in, warming the hearts of those looking for an effective light source that will not only mimic, and replace the outgoing incandescent light, but because of a new liquid cooling technology, produce a more balanced, enriching output of light. Plus one of their 60 watt bulbs, using 12 watts of power, gives off the same lighting quality as the energy hogging incandescent. Photographers will enjoy the light’s ability to spread evenly over a surface making it more user-friendly than the now existing twirling LEDs that have many limitations on direction and placement.
The Switch bulb is dimmable and uses direct flux to radiate the light, and matches the color of the incandescent light bulb. When viewing the display comparing incandescent light to the Switch bulb it really proves the point, that the Switch 60 gives the same color and luminance but also radiates light better.
Shaped like a globe and with the ability to utilize all existing sockets we may be looking directly into the future of what will be the most desired way for us to deal with the ongoing energy issues, and outlast the incandescent light by twenty fold, 25,000 hours on the average.
It will not be until the end of this year, that this line of bulbs will be introduced to the general public. Their current focus will be on hotels, and commercial industries, showing them immediate benefits in lowering their energy costs. With CES (Consumer Electronic Show) 2012 in Las Vegas they may have found a great place to introduce Switch as a long-term solution for incandescent light replacements. The price of Switch bulbs is running about $20.00 each, but should drop with volume to make it an easier choice for the consumer, once the market opens for them.
CES in Las Vegas has not only nominated the Switch bulb, but the Switch75 has won the Innovations 2012 of Design & Engineering; Awards that are sponsored by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), who pointed out their eco-friendly design, and their sustainable technology, placing them in the Winner’s Showcase at the 2012 International at the Venetian Hotel.
Thomas "Tracy" Bilbrough, Chief Executive Officer, and Brett Sharenow, Chief Strategy Officer, Chief Financial Officer would like Switch bulbs to be a cradle to cradle product reducing the footprint of the Switch bulb on this planet, which seems to be a theme for many of the products at this year's CES tradeshow. With a light source lasting about 20 years we’ll not see any one changing them out for a long time.
