This is another movie about a film crew going somewhere scary, or out of the way, and then … surprise, something deadly attacks. Usually, the film is found months or years later.

“Surviving Evil” is not quite that film, but it’s close. Billy Zane heads up a crew that is shooting a survival documentary on the remote island of Mayaman in the Philippines.

I wish I could say scary stuff starts happening right away, but I can’t because it doesn’t. What does happen is a bunch of over acting, under acting and some kind of shape-shifting creatures that seem to have no reason for doing what they do and aren’t scary at all.

There is also a man who knows that there is a place on the island where some gold is hidden. He goes to get some gold, just enough for his family to live, and guess what? He dies ... killed by those pesky shape shifting monsters.

Synopsis:

A TV documentary crew arrive on a remote island in the Philippines to film a survival special. Their back-to-the-wild adventure proves to be more terrifying than they ever could have imagined.

This film was originally released in 2009. I don’t know if it worked then, but it diffidently doesn’t work now.
Billy Zane is a great actor, the “Titanic” star deserves a better script than this and better co-stars. He Deserves better everything.

Caution, this film is now available on DVD.

1/5 stars, sorry Billy, not even you could save this film, but the one star is for you just because you're an awesome actor and you rock a bald head like nobody else. (Except Vin Diesel).
