In 2007 Rob Zombie delighted millions by taking the movie Halloween and remaking with his bizarre overview.
For the most part Rob Zombie’s Halloween was a horrifying gore fest from start to finish that showed more of his life in an insane asylum than John Carpenter’s original film.
Of most remakes I’ve seen this is one of the reasons I despise remakes but it was successful enough at the box office that it garnered a sequel and even Danielle Harris joined the first movie, not in the role she originally played but in the role of Annie. Horror fans will remember that this is one of Laurie Strode’s best friends. The question is why didn’t Danielle play Laurie since she played Jamie as a child? Perhaps her role as Mary Beth in Hatchet kept her from taking the larger role of Laurie in the remake of the movie that made her a star.
The movie was okay and could have been saved if Rob Zombie would have actually paid attention to the actual character of Michael Meyers. If he would murder his sister and her boyfriend for having pre-marital sex why would anyone much less people responsible for keeping him contained would rape and sodomize another inmate in his room? This had to be the most obvious escape set up known to man. In fact the movie is so bad I want to make it apart of a contest to give it away!
At least I’m not alone in my feelings. Three time Bram Stoker Finalist and four time Bram Stoker Master of Ceremonies, HWA’s Horror Funny man, posted on Facebook, “You should enter Kristina Stancil’s contest, because if you win the DVD you can drive over this piece of crap movie with your car and sleep well knowing there is one less copy in the world.”—Jeff Strand.
Jeff kept us in stitches at the 2013 World Horror Convention in New Orleans and his books are wickedly funny. For more on Jeff check out his website, www.jeffstrand.com
Information on the contest will be posted on the Thrillerz13 website, www.thrillerz13.com
