From the morbidly brilliant mind of Adam Green is another installment in the legend of Victor Crowley. In preparation for the recently released Hatchet 3 on DVD and Blu-Ray which I will be reviewing next week, a look back at Hatchet 2 starring Tony Dodd (Candy Man), RA Milhoff (Leatherface), Kane Hodder (Jason turned Crowley), and Danielle Harris (Halloween's Jamie.)
After surviving the tragic events of the first movie, Marybeth (now played by Danielle Harris) wants to return to the swamp with a group of hunters to retrieve the bodies of her father and brother. Her uncle wants to forbid her and she lies to him about staying away from Rev Zombie's.
She doesn't and he of course follows her. Zombie entices hunters with half of their pay up front and half at the end.
They take a team of hunters to the swamp, one played by RA Milhof, who played Leatherface.
Marybeth doesn't realize Zombie's plan is to appease the spirit by killing off the men who were the teens who caused the death of Victor Crowley.....including Marybeth's uncle.
Only the plan mostly backfires as even Zombie is killed by the monster. Marybeth does learn an important lesson if it bleeds it should be able to be killed.
Now with Zombie dead and MaryBeth determined to bring back her father (Robert Englund), her brother, and now possibly her uncle how will she return to the swamp to battle the monster?
Adam Green has recently released the third movie in the Hatchet saga. Brilliantly written and interspersed with dark humor Hatchet gives yet another vehicle for horror veterans and fans alike to be drawn in for an epic thrill ride. Of course having Kane Hodder bringing your monster to life doesn't hurt.
Next week Hatchet 3.
