SuperME is a line of superhero-inspired bags designed by moms to help little ones be their own superhero every day! The SuperME Naturalist Messenger bag is, in a word, cool. The bright yellow, orange and green appeal to the color-loving child, and the message is a form of self-affirmation: all kids are super in their own way. The detachable velcro patches are a nice touch too: this bag comes with the SuperME! Hero patch (with an icon of a little super hero in a maskl) while the coordinating SuperME! Rocker patch would probably appeal to a child who's a bit older. All patches attach securely to the velcro. The size of the bag makes it easy for any child over the age of 3 years to handle, although the clips holding it shut need to be pressed in, and were a little stiff the first time I tried to open them. Subsequent tests got easier.
The neoprene fabric is durable, and bright. The "superhero utility belt" is really neat for little guys. The fact that it can be used as a hands-free strap or a belt makes it more functional, as well as fun. There's lots of little "secret compartments" for lunch treats or notes from teacher, as well as for little treasures. The lunchbag portion has useful netting to keep containers upright and secure.
While the capes and masks of the backpack may not be encouraged in schools (most schools no longer allow superhero play because of the fighting aspect), they would be great fun at home or for sleepovers. The water-resistant bags themself are extremely attractive and durable and should last a long time, making the collecting of patches another fun part of this gear. And your child can also choose their own mask online for extra play value. After all, every superhero needs a secret identity!
