Quick Shot: This is the kind of casual-but-fresh-and-clean bar that almost everyone would want to live next door to -- and visit often. The word "tavern" is in the name, but it actually leans more toward being a restaurant. Simply nice, with high-quality and affordable food.

Atmosphere & Decor:
Owned by James Beard Award nominee, Jenn Louis and her husband, this inviting, south-side "tavern" is patterned after their vision of what a perfect neighborhood public house should be. It's exactly the kind of place they themselves would most want to hang out in. Rain or shine, the sky-high windows let in lots of light, and the wood walls and booths warm the place up. After the sun sets, it takes on a totally different, more intimate glow, perfect for indulging those late-night munchie cravings (and you'll have a solid collection of those here).

Comfort/bar food with a Northwest-gourmet twist (keep in mind the chef's/owner's reputation): Pizza (one of the best thin-crusts in the city!), gravy cheese fries, romaine salad, crackling/pork rinds, crispy oysters, baked hen eggs, rigatoni, candied hazelnuts
