Island Way Grill in Clearwater Florida is one of four amazing restaurants operated by Baystar restaurant group. The restaurant is situated right on the beautiful inter-coastal waterway, and next to the Clearwater Marine Aquarium. Although their entire menu looks great, the Sunday brunch is what everyone talks about.
Upon arrival, you can immediately get a sense of the casual Florida lifestyle. The restaurant has a valet service that many patrons take advantage of, however you can opt to park yourself. The parking lot is about two-thirds valet, and one-third personal parking just as a side note. On Sunday the entire restaurant is set up as a giant buffet with lots to choose from. The outside deck where many customers choose to sit is on the other side of the restaurant, which gives you the chance to see what they have on your way to your table. Make sure to make reservations for the Sunday brunch. This is not just a small buffet with bacon and eggs.
The Sunday brunch is $23.95 for an all you can eat buffet and a complimentary "mimosa", or glass of Champagne. The food is set up in four different sections: a fruit section, a meat section, a sushi/raw section, and an entire room of desert. To give you an idea of the variety of food that they offer, my first plate consisted of: raw oysters, clam pasta, chicken wings, sushi, crab salad, eggs, and hash browns. When you finally decide that you are ready for desert, you have many options. They have two or three varieties of "pie" which is displayed in a small shot glass. The desert room also has "Banana's Foster" with a chef on hand to pour the steaming hot bananas or cherries on your ice cream.
