This exclusively American termed Bordeaux blend is made up from 46% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Merlot, 6% Malbec, 4% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc. In the glass it is a classic dark cherry red color that initially displays a somewhat restrained aroma. A noticeable green pepper note is present as a result of the Cabernet Sauvignon sharing an identical chemical compound with the vegetable. Hints of oak and fruit are there but are far from leaping out of the glass.
On the palate this wine is fruit forward but with a good balance of tannin and acid that all meld together to make it highly drinkable. This wine is full bodied with hints of berry fruit and chocolate and some recommended food pairings include roasted pork loin, grilled steaks and creamy pasta dishes. It drinks well now and should be enjoyable over the next 3-5 years.
