Stepping Stones Thrift Store, a favorite of many Columbia thrifty fashion shoppers, has a double mission. Their mission to us is to provide a huge selection of fashions, accessories, shoes and jewelry at very reasonable prices.
Most items are only $1, and many are in new or like-new condition. You’ll also find a large range of sizes, with plenty of selections for plus size women.
Stepping Stones other mission is that of providing a program for women who are recovering addicts in the process of transition. Every time we bring home a bargain from Stepping Stones Thrift Store, it helps to build their mission of a women’s program, hopefully to become implemented this year. The men’s program has been active for some time, and the women’s program is a much needed ministry in Columbia.
Right now, Stepping Stones Ministry is gratefully accepting all donations to help make the women’s program a reality. They are accepting good used clothing, shoes and handbags, jewelry and accessories, furniture and house wares, books, records, and virtually anything you have that is saleable. The more fashion finds purchased and the more donations received, the closer the women's program becomes. Donations are accepted at store locations and tax receipts are available.
Stepping Stones Ministry, Inc. is operated by Elmwood Avenue Church of God at 1427 Elmwood Avenue in Columbia. Thrift Shop manager, Betty Peavy Frick, greets people with arms open wide. She assures us that she will provide “a safe place to fall” and will “work something out” if someone has nothing to eat and nowhere safe to spend the night.
Stepping Stones Thrift Stores are located at 6001 Two Notch Road in Columbia and 1916 Augusta Road, in West Columbia and are open Monday through Saturday from 9:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M. They are filled with rack after rack of fashion finds and thrifty treasures. You will surely want to visit again and again.
