Stephen Marley to release double album

Two time Grammy winning Reggae artist, Stephen Marley is about to release his third solo album. Entitled, “Revelation Pt. 1: The Root of Life,” the album is due in stored on May 24th and will be distributed via Ghetto Youths/Tuff Gong/Universal Republic.

Some noteworthy singles on “The Root of Life” include “Jah Army” featuring Buju Banton & Damian Marley, “Working Ways,” featuring Spragga Benz & “No Cigarette Smoking” featuring Canada’s own, Melanie Fiona. The 14 track album will be followed up by another album to be unveiled in the fall of 2011 entitled, “Revelation Pt. 2: The Fruit of Life.” The second part of this double album will feature a number of genres that have been influenced by Reggae music.

“Reggae music has influenced hip hop and so many other kinds of music,” Marley explained in a statement to reporters. “The Fruit of Life will be a more open, eclectic kind of record. There will be songs for the club, dancehall reggae will be there, love songs in there, but it will remain conscious good music that you can always take something positive from. “An exclusive version of “Revelation Pt. 2: The Fruit of Life” will be released on vinyl this coming fall.

Both albums speak of a variety of topics such as love, friendship, religion & slavery. Given the quality that’s been shown from singles already released from the album such as “No Cigarette Smoking,” this double album could give Marley a healthy head start in the race to win the Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album for a third time. He previously won the award in 2008 for his album “Mind Control,” as well as in 2010 for the Acoustic version of the “Mind Control” album.
