We last saw the crew of the Star Ship Enterprise on Vulcan. They had just brought Spock (Leonard Nimoy) back to his home world to go through the procedure to bring him and conscious back together. The crew Captain Kirk (William Shatner), Dr. McCoy (DeForest Kelly), Scotty (James Doohan), Chekov (Walter Koenig), Sulu (George Takei), and Uhura (Nichelle Nichols) are all wanted criminals. They stole the ship to get Spock and they are wanted by Star fleet. We have a problem though a device has come to Earth and is sending a signal and unfortunately there is no one still on Earth to send the message back. I don't mean there are no humans on Earth. I mean there are no Whales on Earth. Yes that's right Whales. They were hunted to extinction and there hadn't been any for quite some time.
Kirk and his crew including Capt. Spock were on their way back to Earth to answer all charges when they heard the news of what was going on back home. Of course they head back to 20th century Earth to pick up some whales. What's even better they are doing it with the captured Klingon ship from the planet Genesis.
They do make it back and they even find some whales but getting them back to 23rd century Earth is not going to be easy. They also find a caretaker for the whales in Gillian (Catherine Hicks)
a marine biologist.
Okay this is not your ordinary Star Trek movie. Spock is cussing throughout the whole movie. He is not totally himself yet. This is fun. This movie is simply an enjoyable step back to what we use to see in the original series. This is one of Director Leornard Nimoy's best Star Trek movies and it is one of those movies that when all is said and done you walk away happy and cheerful. So take the time and watch this classic Star Trek Adventure.
