I am always on the look out for great parks and in Pennsylvania that is pretty easy. Just outside of Pittsburgh, right up 28 North, sits one of the greatest gems of this area, the Squaw Valley Park. Looking for a fun place to let the kids play after shopping all up and down Freeport Road? This is the place for you. Marked with a basketball court, tennis court, gazebo, frog and fish pond, two play sets, lots of grass, a trail and tons of picnic and cabana area's. This park has it all.
This park has play areas for kids of all ages. Everyone from toddler to teen can find something fun to do and plenty of clean bathroom to accommodate the whole family. Water fountains to drink, shady trees, open spaces, lilly pad dotted pond, perfectly placed park benches and scores of friendly people just enjoying themselves and it shows.
While there myself with my four children we saw baby fish swimming in the pond, the occasional frog peak its nose up from a lilly pad, quite a few dragonflies in many colors, a few butterflies, and many types of bugs that the kids were very excited to identify. This park really is tucked out of the way and gives you the feeling of getting away despite being not far from the hustle and bustle of Freeport Roads shopping area.
So whether its a fun day out, just a stop on the way to let the kids run, a quiet place to read or eat your lunch, this places has it all. Families can hold events there and enjoy the cabana or the gazebo. No one has to use a port a potty and everything is spread out for personalized fun. Head on over, just go straight up 28 north, take exit 8 and instead of turning right for the shopping, turn left and go straight. It is a minute up the road on your right. If you go after shopping, skip jumping back onto 28 and just go straight. Trust me you will not regret it.
