Spontaneous Evolution: Our Positive Future (And A Way To Get There From Here) is a consciousness expanding book published in 2009 by Bruce Lipton, Ph.D. and Steve Bhaerman (Swami Beyondananda).
This book is a collaboration between Lipton, the acclaimed author of The Biology of Belief, and Bhaerman, the author and spiritual comedian known for his punditry as Swami Beyondananda. This book takes the reader on a journey through the paradigms or worldviews that have dominated human society over long periods of time. From prehistoric animism through the current holistic paradigm, they examine how each worldview addresses the relationship between the spiritual and the material and the role of human beings on Earth.

This book brings together spirituality, biology, physics, medicine, ecology, psychology, philosophy, and economic and sociopolitical paradigms into the discussion of how we can create a more positive future rather than the bleak future that so many present indicators suggest may lie ahead. Bruce Lipton is adept at examining the nature of the relationship between consciousness and biology, and he astutely explains why both the religious creationist ideas and the Darwinian evolutionary model are flawed and incomplete. Bhaerman is a skilled wordsmith who cleverly illustrates the imbalanced nature of political and economic systems that have dominated our civilization, placing short term profit and consumption ahead of concerns for the well-being of the planet itself.

These co-authors are both insightful and quite knowledgeable about these subjects, and they envision the potential for a healthy transformation of human society toward sustainable and balanced living. Their book calls for us to transcend old paradigms and embrace a holistic perspective. It does this by educating us about these differing paradigms and their implications. If you do not want to challenge your belief in existing structures of modern civilization then do not read this book. However, if you are a thoughtful person who is willing to broaden your perspective, then this book will be an engaging resource for you.

With praise from renowned authors such as Deepak Chopra, Marianne Williamson, Thom Hartmann, and Gregg Braden, this book strikes a chord in a time where much of what people have taken for granted is being questioned or challenged. Marianne Williamson is now putting these ideas into action and running for U.S. Congress in California with a campaign that seeks to carry this type of holistic paradigm into the realm of governance. Rather than a Congress that serves the biggest campaign contributors, corrupt industries, and powerful, well-financed lobbies, she envisions a Congress that addresses the well-being of the whole country and the whole planet. Perhaps more people who read this book will be inspired to lead humanity in this path toward balance and harmony. Meanwhile, we can each educate ourselves and explore holistic paradigm concepts. Hay House, the publisher of Spontaneous Evolution, is one of many resources one can access for books and recordings that teach about holistic living.
