Spice up your summer with BBQ in Independence

Who knew that decent barbeque could be found in a small barbeque joint adjacent to a hotel in Independence?

Founded in 1996, Bandanas strives to provide Missouri, Illinois, and Iowa with fast and friendly Southern style barbeque.

Bandanas is by no means a Gates BBQ, but has a unique charm that you may not find at the more chaotic, more in-your-face BBQ places.

The booths are adorned with bandanas and the menu contains the basic barbeque standards: barbeque pork, beef, chicken, ribs, turkey and sausage. There are several side options including hand made cole slaw, baked beans, and potato salad.

A combo with pulled pork and beef with sides of fries and baked beans (as recommeded by the waitress) and dining companion's ribs all came out within six minutes.

The pork was dry and the french fries were flavorless. Tables have four sauce choices to enhance the meal.

The beef was juicy and tender and the beans were sweet and delcious.

Combo meals come with two pieces of garlic bread.
