A simple and delicious Spanish white wine, great to sip with friends or to have with a light shellfish, crustacean or white fish dish. Back in 2007, while visiting Spain, it was great to taste this delicious white wine on a visit to the Jean Leon winery in Penedés, part of the Torres family of wines. After a trip to Puerto Rico in December 2013 and visiting "El Hórreo de V. Zuárez" what a great surprise to see the 2010 vintage of ViñaSol. A bottle made it all the way to Napa Valley with us.

The Torres brand is very well known in Spain and worldwide, with vineyards in Chile and California. Now in their fourth generation of grape growing and winemaking, the Torres family continues to make quality wines with the same integrity since they started in Villafranca del Penedès back in 1870.

ViñaSol white wine is made with traditional white grapes of Catalunya DO, Parellada and Garnacha Blanca. This wine was produced first back in 1962 by Miguel A. Torres by fermenting Parrellada grapes at low temperature. The ViñaSol brand brought the attention of various generations of wine drinkers looking to enjoy well crafted quality wine at a lower price point.

  • 2010 ViñaSol White Wine: A delightful white blend of Parrellada and Garnacha Blanca grapes. Aromas of fresh fruit, green apple, banana, orange blossom with hints of orange peel and anise. On the palate, this wine feels crisp with moderate acidity and flavors of pear, pineapple, peach and notes of zesty citrus and fennel. We enjoyed this wine with saute flounder fillet and a salad of fresh young greens with tomatoes, mushrooms, walnuts, green onion and freshly grated Manchego cheese drizzled with a light tangerine vinaigrette dressing. This crisp white will be great paired with white fish, seafood, paella and uncomplicated tapas. Average retail price, $12
