Located in the heart of downtown Mesa Arizona is a charming herbal medicine boutique called Southwest Herb.
Take a peek inside to see all of the wonderful natural essence of herbs in one setting. This specialty shop provides patrons a “right at home” feeling.
The aromatic scents and ambience will make anyone feel as though they stepped right into an open spa environment. The innovators behind this specialty market are Madalyn Johnson, Kathleen and her husband Mike Gould.
Gould discussed a time when her son, at a young age, was diagnosed with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) and was put on medication to help manage the condition. Gould was not very pleased with the side affects her son would experience and that’s when she began to learn about the powerful healing of natural herbs.
As an herbalist, Kathleen was able to learn and work with mentors experienced in holistic healing. Kathleen’s husband Mike, shared the experience of how driven his wife has been in helping others find ways to heal certain illnesses without having to utilize heavy prescriptions.
Kathleen gives credit to her team of apprentices to include Madalyn Johnson; who has been an intricate part of Southwest Herb's business and marketing operations.
“Madalyn and I are truly the ones who work and run the business. My husband is also a partner and great supporter,” adds Kathleen. Johnson has a long successful career in marketing and brings a wealth of business and creative talent to help make Southwest Herb run smoothly.
Southwest Herb provides clients the natural resources and learning tools necessary to achieve the power of healing for individualized medical needs.
Southwest Herb is currently in the planning phase of introducing their product to medical professionals internationally. The goal is to demonstrate the benefits of utilizing natural herbs to heal certain medical conditions for local communities and health professionals abroad.
When patrons visit Southwest Herb for the first time, they will receive a one on one tour, a consultation, and the opportunity to attend a class to learn how to make their own medicinal product with herbs.
The natural treatment derives from the oils and liquids trapped inside the herbs. The herbs are pressed down to a certain degree so that all of the natural elements are extracted. During the extraction phase is where the naturalization process of creating medicine occurs.
Utilizing the distinct properties from natural plants and herbs to heal all sorts of ailments such as, stomach aches, prevention of certain cancers, joint pain, back pain, headaches, nausea, hormone imbalance, anxiety, depression and other mood disorders is empowering and healthier for the body.
Southwest Herb caters to consumers nationwide. Consumers are welcome to attend community seminars that are open to the public and are free. In November, the Phoenix Healthy Food Examiner will share the art of blending herbs into medicine with the Examiner community.
