Souper Salad

Wile out and about I stopped at the Souper Salad located located at 3636 Citadel Dr. on the north side of Citadel Mall in Colorado Springs. Open daily from 10:45 AM to 9:00 PM, they offer an all you-can-eat buffet of salad, soup, baked potato, breads, pizza, pasta, and tacos. Adults pay $6.99, seniors $5.99, and kids 6-9 $4.29 / 3-5 $3.29. You can also get a single trip through for take-out.
First on the line were the salad mixes. There was there two constant mixes: romaine with iceberg; and Caesar salad. Then there was their seasonal mix, Apple Pecan. It contains romaine, apples, chopped pecans, blue cheese, and house dressing. I had to try the Apple Pecan mix. It was absolutely delicious. A great combination of ingredients. The vegetables and fruit looked bright, healthy and fresh. They also tasted very good.
The assortment of prepared salads such as Fettuccine Pasta Salad, Gazpacho Salad, Loaded Potato Salad, and Tuna Skroodle Pasta Salad. I had the Fettuccine Pasta which is made of: fettuccine pasta (of course), corn, mayonnaise, parmesan cheese, garlic, and black pepper. This is one of my favorites. I love the flavor, & that I can taste all the ingredients.
Each day there are five different soups to try. I had their thick, creamy, chunky New England Clam Chowder. Then there was the Beef Shellini. A delicious blend of ground beef, small shell pasta, onions, mushrooms, celery, bell peppers, and seasoning. Next, the Meatball Fazuli with meatball, small shell pasta, tomatoes, parmesan cheese, and seasoning was very tasty.
Of the bakery goods offered. The gingerbread, corn bread, and garlic bread sticks were excellent. Their oven baked pizza was mediocre at best. At the hot bad the tacos were good, but the shell quickly crumbled after the first two bites. But then their specialty is soup and salad, not pizza or tacos. The toppings section had a mix of limited choices for both baked potatoes and tacos. For dessert they have chocolate pudding, shortcake that can be topped with peaches; strawberries; and whip cream. As well as soft-serve vanilla ice cream with a selection of six toppings.
The dining area, buffet line, and restrooms are kept clean. To sum up, Souper Salad is a great choice for a healthy meal. Whether your, vegetarian, vegan, diabetic, or just trying eat right. You’ll find what you’re looking for here to leave full and satisfied.
