Soundstill and 20 Foot Forehead rock the Hull Avenue Tavern

Friday night was met with a pleasant surprise when it was announced that Soundstill would have an opening band play. The band, named 20 Foot Forehead, hit the stage with a mixture of metal, rock, and comedy. A Fairfield, IA based band, they have been playing together since 2007. Lead man Jeff Alexander married the magic of a good scream with that of a stand-up comedy show. Their sound resonated that of A Perfect Circle, the Chili Peppers, Atreyu, and Killswitch Engage all blended into a small venue bowl and baked in a Rock oven until ready to serve. They provided the audience with promotional stickers and showed up on time with their own following of fans.

Soundstill came to stage with an aura of experience. Their stage show was one was obvious they had done numerous times before. With their unique twist on “off-time” rhythm, heavy guitars, and System of a Down vocals, they blew away the audience. They sang original songs that had been fine tuned to near perfection, provided merchandise for adoring fans, and showed a stage presence that portrayed them as a band that will soon be going places. A couple of the band members, Josh Cother and Terry Justice, showed amazing dedication by not only both playing lead guitar but also bass guitar, switching off between themselves the entire show.
