Brazilian metal heavyweights Soulfly come out swinging on their latest album to show that real metal is still here and here to stay. With their ninth studio album “Savages”, the Max Cavalera lead metal legends prove once again that they are one of the best in the business and they “bring the metal” as Cavalera has been known to say. Much like all Max Cavalera albums with Soulfly, Cavalera Conspiracy or the legendary Sepultura, this album is filled with great guitar riffs, pounding drum and bass and vocals that are truly unique to Max. This album marks the first for Soulfly as it has two Cavalera’s in the band. “Savages” is the first album to have Max Cavalera’s son Zyon on drums as a full time band member. We all know the greatness that can happen with two Cavalera’s in a band due to the success of Cavalera Conspiracy and Sepultura with Max’s brother Igor Cavalera on drums. The new album is fast paced metal as expected from a Soulfly album as well as containing the classical guitar and mellow sounds that are always smattered in their work. There are many guest spots on the album including Neil Fallon of Clutch and Mitch Harris of Napalm Death, as well as Max Cavalera’s son Igor who’s the band Lody Kong.
