Ready, get set, go! We finally have a racing game that pushes Mario Kart off of its tracks; Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed. This title has everything you could ask for a kids racing game. It has speed, extremely fun tracks, transforming vehicles and much more. So where do I begin?
How many racing games have you played where your vehicle transforms into different things? If you have never experienced a game like that before, now is your time to do so. Majority of the time in this game, you start out with a car! As the level progresses in the race, you drive into portals where your vehicle turns into either a boat to drive on water or a plane where you get to fly around dodging asteroids or battleship rockets! Don't believe me? Take a look for yourself with my slideshow of pictures.
Now how many games have you played where you actually get to gain experience and level up your vehicle? Now I am not talking about the design of the car or the artwork, but the actual stats of the car; handling, speed, acceleration, etc. After every race you win or lose, you will gain a certain amount of experience based off what difficulty level you raced on, the amount of star coins you collected, and your all around driving expertise. This experience will be added to your experience bar at the end of each race and every time you level up with one particular racer, you will acquire a mod that you can equip before each race that will boost one of the cars' stats! This item alone makes the playability of this game really high since you have to play with every character in order to level them up.
What is better than transforming vehicles and gaining experience after every race? I am not really sure you can top that but I can add to the list of why this game is so great. This racing game has the best racing track designs of all time! How many games have you played where you actually fly above the ocean trying to land on one battleship to the next to progress through the race? Or how many games have you played where you race through space to dodge asteroids? Not many huh?
All I can say is that Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed makes Mario Kart and all other racing games look like amateur designs. I really can't express enough in words on how great this game is so all I ask is that you take a look at my slideshow of pictures and buy the game yourself! Did I happen to mention that you can play with your friends online and/or split screen on the same TV/Computer? Well, you can.
