The time is now for jeans that are unlike the jeans you think you’ve known about for your whole life. The Flex Fire Hose 5 Pocket Jeans (FFH5PJ) from Duluth Trading Company (DTC) are those jeans. What makes them different could make you look at regular jeans in an entirely different light.
Technically, the Flex Fire Hose Jeans are are dungarees since they are made from a type of canvas and not actually denim. The Flex Fire Hose Jeans are cut like jeans, complete with 5 pockets. They are reinforced like jeans with double-layer cuffs and riveted stress points. These pants even fit like jeans, only better, since they are made from an 8 ounce cotton that consists of 3% Spandex so they drape, rather than break and have a four-way flex to them rather than making you conform to them. Most of all, these dungarees differ from jeans because instead of absorbing liquids like sweat and water, which will leave you feeling clammy all day, these Flex Fire Hose Jeans actually repel water which makes them better than jeans in just about every way imaginable.
Over the last month, the FFH5PJ have fulfilled the role of average jeans by joining me in the yard for lawn cutting duty, tree trimming and cooking on the grill. In every instance they ended up dirty, dusty, and at least splattered with such tastiness as compound butter, olive oil and the juice from a giant steak. They have also gone above and beyond in the style department thanks the their tidy fit, smooth material and surprisingly soft hand, joining me in the office, at a fancy press event at Robert Sinskey Vineyards, and for an evening out at the Uptown Theatre. They fit like jeans, they are tough like jeans, but they look considerably more posh than jeans. Add to that the fact that they are nearly impossible to stain, and you end up with a pair of pants that are more versatile than just about anything else you will find on the market today.
Is there anything wrong with these “jeans?” Not really, unless you happen to be in the market for something made from classic 14 ounce denim. Also, they do not come in the classic Indigo color that average jeans come in. Instead of just work or just casual, the FFH5PJ are just great pants that can fulfill the role of many kinds of trousers while being super tough and ready for anything.
