Just started looking at SkillPages.com (although I did create my profile on the site - sometime ago... even made some attempts at some introductions.) I get emails for trial memberships and invitations to build new profiles all the time - so do my best to "check out" all that I can... Was impressed with the Skillpages interface and functionality - but was not impressed with the response that I received from the introductions and my attempts at introductions... but after interacting with a prospective candidate - I thought I would make an attempt at spreading the word about this wonderful social recruiting and social strategy tool.
Skillpages is very productive for the freelance and independent consultant/business owner as well as the "dead-end-job" employee - who wants to be recruited for their skills and not just employment history. It can definitely help draw attention to your candidacy if you have newly acquired skills (perhaps a former software engineer who just completed a Ruby-on-Rails training program and has contributed to a non-profit opensource project - and even has code examples!!) It can also be a very productive part of an organization's social recruiting strategy - because there are probably plenty of skilled people in your professional social network - and SkillPages helps you to organize and maximize that potential.
I think that SkillPages needs to build it's community and nurture a true ecosystem that will benefit all its members and community participants... and if done successfully, SkillPages will be an event better tool for candidates and employers... - we just need to help spread the word.
