Feeling a little upscale on a weekend? Head to The Restaurant at the Setai Hotel in South Beach. Charcoal walls, and intricate mahogany woodwork lead the way to a spectacular brunch spread. If diners are lucky Sous Chef, Eric Bonillo will be there to navigate the best cuts of meat, especially his truffle marinated chicken, roasted leg of lamb, and his New York strip steak. Eric Bonillo honed his craft in Los Angeles before making the jump to The Restaurant at The Setai. His personal brunch favorite is the Indian Butter Chicken.
Brunch features live jazz music, champagne, Southeast Asian fare, traditional American fare, a chilled seafood tower, gourmet omelette station, and best of all, the single most amazing dessert buffet. The desserts actually have gold dust sprinkled onto them. The food selection can be overwhelming, at first, but smart diners know to allot at least two hours to fully enjoy the Setai experience. A new addition to the brunch buffet is a Mediterranean selection, which includes, specialties from France and Spain.
"What's the catch?" a diner may ask. It would have to be the price of the brunch buffet. Sunday brunch will set patrons back $85 a person and $40 for children. Reservations are preferred and can be made at www.opentable.com. The Restaurant at The Setai is located at 2001 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach, FL 33139. The Setai's menu can be found at www.thesetaihotel.com.
