Signor Sassi Bangkok delivers style, service and sophisticated Italian cuisine (Photos)

In recent years Bangkok has been graced with the introduction of several upscale international franchises, and London's award winning Signor Sassi is the latest addition. They are one of the most successful Italian restaurants in the United Kingdom with additional locations in Kuwait and Beirut. They also have a reputation for being a hotspot that appeals to international jet setters, celebrities and politicians. They are well known for their exacting standards and pride themselves on delivering sophisticated Italian cuisine.

The Venue

Located on the 37th floor of the Anantara Sathorn, the restaurant boasts a simple décor and a warm color scheme. Extra "special touches" like cheese and olives to nibble on in addition to their artisan breads, make a long lasting impression and emphasize their attention to detail. Signor Sassi Bangkok is committed to delivering the same first class style and service that guests have come to expect from their other international locations. "About 90-95% of the menu and ingredients is the same as in London, but in Bangkok we also have the addition of a beautiful view" stated Restaurant Manager and Sommelier Roberto Rota.

With seating for up to 100 guests, you can enjoy the spectacular city view while dining al fresco or sit inside the elegant main dining room where you are regaled by a musical duo of cello and guitar. There is also a private walk-in wine vault that offers exclusive wines from some of the best vineyards in Italy. The Cuisine Start off with a glass of sparkling wine like the N.V. Zonin Prosecco Brut accompanied with a signature starter like the Avocado Bernardo which is avocado with lobster, prawns and a creamy pink sauce. We also recommend the succulent Sea Scallops with Garlic, Butter and Bread Crumbs and the classic Baked Eggplant w/Parmesan Cheese, Mozzarella and Tomato Sauce, which is the epitome of soulful comfort food. When it comes to pasta, the famous Spaghetti Lobster is a triumph and the homemade Egg Tagliolini w/Butter, Bacon & White Alba Truffles is an experience in pure unadulterated pleasure. For a main course you can't go wrong with the succulent Rack of Lamb with Red Wine & Aromatic Herbs and a full bodied glass of Beni di Batasiolo Barbera d'Asti Sabri 2008. The lamb is perfectly cooked and one of the best versions I have had in a while. Another standout recommendation is the tender Beef Medallions Wrapped in Parma Ham in Cream & Truffle Sauce. This dish is luxury on a plate with a delightful sumptuous earthiness. When served with the Sautéed Mushrooms with White Wine, Garlic & Chili it is an unexpected explosion of complementary flavors that is lifted by the tantalizing heat of the chilies. You may also want to indulge with one of the many Grappa's available, which is Italian alcohol made from the stems, pulp or seeds of the grapes. I enjoyed the clear A Sud Delle Nuvole and the amber colored Grappa Deja Spress. Be sure to end the meal with a formidable cup of flambéed Italian Coffee with Amaretto, Shaved Almonds and Chocolate which is served table-side with much fanfare. The Verdict Open daily for lunch and dinner, Signor Sassi lives up to its stellar reputation by offering delectable Italian cuisine, unique ambiance and world class service that will make you want to visit again and again. The food is scrumptious, the service standard is very high, and overall it is a first class dining experience.
