After much anticipation, Signif has finally released her LP Embracing Rejection, the follow up to her Spring project Significant Wizdom. With Embracing Rejection, Signif wants listeners to join her as she takes them on a journey through her trials and tribulations as a rising femcee. Her main battle being the one against the typical female rapper stereotype. Readers were already treated to four singles: "Let's Figure It Out," "Wish Her Well," "Like My Style," and "Nice To Know." Continue reading below for a review of a couple more stand out tracks.
"Soul Clap"
The production here is on point. It features a horn like instrument that blends well with the low heavy hitting bass. The combination of sounds gives off a street type of vibe. The hook is decent. Signif's delivery fits the beat well and the lyrics are pretty catchy. The verses are dope. Sig has a strong flow and sharply crafted rhymes. She does an ill job of putting her doubters in their place and reminding the world that she is paving her own way in the industry unlike some other female rappers. She fires: "I roll dolo, I don't need a crew of guys. You can hear it in my voice, see it in my eyes. I got my mind right, set on the prize. I built my own path, ain't nobody put me here. Blood, sweat, and tears, working hard throughout the years. If you don't see me now, don't see me when I get there. If you ain't showing love, don't wait til' I get there. And I'm almost there, so you almost scared. But nothing to fear, Im gone keep it really real. I only mess with righteous ones like Erykah. So stop comparing her to these amateurs, that wouldn't be here if no one was backing them." That is just pure talent right there. Overall, this track is a banger and favorite off of the LP.
"Welcome To The Fun House"
The production here is hot. It incorporates light sounds/instruments with a strong bass, resulting in a very intense vibe. The hook is quality. Sig brings an edgy flow with sharp rhymes. She definitely embodies the intensity of the production. The verses are sick too. Signif goes hard from start to finish. She has a steady mid-tempo flow and her rhymes are raw. Once again, she delivers a powerful punch to her doubters and makes it known that she is not to be taken lightly. Overall, this track is yet another hit on the LP. Sig handled her business.
So these are a few of the harder tracks on the project, as I thought the previous songs were a tad on the lighter side. In the end, Embracing Rejection is a winning album. The production is high quality, Signif provides grade A versatile content, and it paints a well rounded picture of the femcee. All things that fans of REAL Hip-Hop should appreciate.
