Hasbro, which trademarks the GI Joe doll, has sponsored a new movie by Paramount Pictures, GI Joe Retaliation , starring Dwayne Johnson, Channing Tatum, and Bruce Willis. Other stars are Adrianne Palicki, as Lady Jaye, DJ Cotrona, and Byung-Hun Lee. Should Charlotte preschoolers see it?
The movie is rated PG-13, suggesting that audiences be 13 or older. It is full of violence, including heat seeking missile bullets, rockets, grenades, automatic weapons, explosions, murders, and potentially, the destruction of the planet earth. For a preschooler, the movie will be quite frightening.
The movie also includes sword fights and martial arts being performed on zip lines on the sides of snowy mountains. This scene might make a fun and interesting video game, as far as introducing self-defense; however, the avalanche is very destructive.
The overall theme, good against evil, is well-stated, along with the plot. However, the scenes are too negatively impressionable upon a young child.
