Heading onto DVD today is one of my top picks for 2013 Banshee Chapter. Directed by Blair Erickson this supernatural film is a frightening look at government testing and the doorways they could open in the subconscious. The movie stars Katia Winter, Ted Levine and Michael McMillian. The story follows Winter on the search for answers to what happened to her missing friend (McMillan). She enlist the help of Levine and they embark on a hallucinatory journey that is so much more than they first believe.

Banshee Chapter plays very well to all types of genre fans as it blends between documentary and narrative. Knowing that these types of experiments actually exists only adds to the mystery and fear of Banshee Chapter. Erickson and crew were able to capitalize on the atmosphere they created and not allow their CG to carry the shock value. 2013 was a great year for horror and a films like Banshee Chapter used traditional methods to scare that added themselves to a list of great dread filled horror. This a DVD that movie watchers will enjoy from the comfort of their homes as it makes a great late night with the lights off scary picture.

I would recommend anyone that’s a fan of horror to check out Banshee Chapter on DVD. The film is not too long and really encompasses the types of horror shown throughout last year. In a world filled with found footage and zombie romps Banshee Chapter was refreshing to see. Supernatural films only work if there is a tone created that will allow enough suspense and tension to provide lasting terror. Banshee Chapter achieved that very well. Being able to make a genuine creepy film that has some edge due to the content is hard to do. Anytime something is perceived to be true it can allow a very critical eye which can take away from the greatness of a film. Luckily for Banshee if people are unaware of these experiments it does nothing to take away from the film. Banshee Chapter is an enjoyable horror experience and should be one of you main picks for horror to watch this week.

Banshee Chapter is available on DVD Tuesday January 4th, 2014. It is directed by Blair Erickson and stars Katia Winter, Ted Levine, and Michael McMillian. The Banshee Chapter is being distributed courtesy of XLrator Media. Read my original review for The Banshee Chapter here.
