Shock Top End of the World Midnight Wheat

Shock Top End of the World Midnight Wheat was brewed for the end of the world according to the Mayan Calendar. The world didn't end, but the beer continued. The Shock Top line is brewed by Anheuser-Busch and brews Belgian style beers. The Midnight Wheat is brewed with chocolate malt, spices and chilies and comes in at 6%abv.
This beer pours a cloudy brown, more like fresh pressed apple cider with a fluffy off white head. On the nose it has a lot of roasted malt up front with hints of cacao and baking spices. On drinking the malt hits first followed by milk chocolate, it has a light hoppy short finish. One disappointing note is the chili it is promised to be brewed with is nowhere to be found. Maybe the brewers are too shy to add a little shocking heat in there beer, but they do promise chilies, the Maya ate chilies, I wish some appeared in this beer.
This beer is pleasant to drink, more body and maltier than other wheat beers, but since this isn't a pure wheat beer you'd expect some bolder flavors. This might not be my favorite beer it has its place. This can be a gateway beer for people to make the leap into porters and stouts.
