Sherlock faces off his eternal nemesis Professor Moriarty in Steven Dietz’s adaptation of the 1899 play by William Gillette and Arthur Conan Doyle.
Craig Dickerson plays the cerebral gentleman detective with a distinctive and studied air. Geoffrey Colton plays the King of Bohemia, Scott G. Hartman plays Dr. Watson, Bruce Kaplan plays the amusing safecracker Sid Prince, Sarah Klaren plays the damsel-in-distress Irene Adler, Eve McElheney plays Madge Larrabee, Brian O’Connor plays the deceitful James Larrabee and Steve Schwartz plays the arch-criminal Moriarty.
Under Kendall Tieck’s direction, the melodrama is performed in the mid-sized Douglas Morrison Theatre in a very pleasant park-like section of Hayward. Careful attention is given to set and lighting design.
