Sheraton New York Hotel and Towers results in a disappointing stay

If you are a regular reader, by now you know that even though I live in Manhattan, I often take staycations and go to various hotels around the city.  This past weekend, I stayed at Sheraton New York Hotel and Towers, and, even though I've stayed here before -- this stay was very disappointing.

While I can pinpoint it to one thing, but, there were a lot of little things that added up to a very disappointing stay at the Sheraton New York Hotel and Towers (located at 811 7th Avenue at 53rd Street).  As usual, the check-in line was long, and, why this hotel never has more than 2 or 3 front desk agents on duty escapes all logic.  It took me a good 20 minutes to get to the front of the line to check in.  I got to my room and all seemed well, and, I ran out to Duane Reade (a drug store about 2 blocks away) to pick up a hairbrush since I forgot mine and I didn't want to make the trek back to the Upper East Side.  Upon returning I went to go to the bathroom and I opened the lid to the toilet and the bowl was clogged with toilet paper.  I don't know what was more disgusting -- the thought that somebody was that lazy they didn't bother to flush or the thought that housekeeping wasn't doing its job.  I called the front desk and I was told someone would be sent up.  I explained I would be out until very late (around midnight) and they assured me that someone would be there.

I changed and when out and upon returning the toilet was still the same.  I had little choise but to use it. YUCK!

The following morning I got up to take a shower, and, there were hairs in the tub.  Gross.

I couldn't get out of the hotel fast enough.  I've been in some of the best hotels in the city and also some of the worst, and, while normally the Sheraton New York Hotel and Towers falls somewhere in the middle this past stay really has me wondering what happened.  I will never return and I will never recommend this hotel to another living sole.
