The preeminent German label Chris' Soundtrack Corner have been on a righteous roll lately, releasing a series of killer Eurocult film scores to a passionately dedicated market of music fans.
Their latest release is Stelvio Cipriani's score to the 1980 Joe D'amato sexploitation feature Orgasmo Nero, one of the Italian director's "Caribbean Period" films shot on location with sunny, sandy and erotic locations. Cipriani's musical motifs are equally slinky and sexy here, relying upon a smooth beat and lustful groove for the film's main title before venturing into percussive, energetic tribal territory later on in the score.
These sections are scored to emphasize the film's numerous sex scenes between D'amato's attractive cast-including Spaghetti Western hero Richard Harrison, the lovely Nieves Navarro and hardcore D'amato regular Lucia Ramirez-and rely heavily upon bongo drums, shimmering high-hat, smooth sax and bossa-nova horns, while other sequences utilize a mellower sensibility which focuses its attention upon Cipriani's skilled piano and synth mastery. Still other Orgasmo Nero sequences-there are 28 self titled tracks here-make great use of minor notes and bass guitar, both used to emphasize the dark, sinister undercurrents going on behind the scenes of D'amato's sexy, sleazy film.
Orgasmo Nero is yet another winner from Chris' Soundtrack Corner, and a great addition for Italian genre film fans seeking to add a little sex and sleaze to their movie score collection.
