Metal/RockTheater - that is what you will see when you see a September Mourning show. If you missed their show at the Roxy on Thursday April 4th, you missed a must see show. It is more than just music that makes this band a must see. The band starts with a female on lead vocals that has the looks of a metal mariannette puppet right out of Saint Viktor oil painting, with a metal/rock band backing up the vocals. Let me introduce you to September Mourning.

Meet the band for the evening: Emily Lazar (September) - Sings/Screams, Michael Ransom (Shadou) - Guitar, Skot Christ (Wraith) - Bass, Cheyenne Fritts (Riven) - Guitar, and Zak Morris (Twitch) - Drums. This band provides its fans with a fantasy show set to music. This is how the band describes themselves, “September Mourning is the creation of a universe. It is not a band, it is a story... a fantasy with a musical element intertwined within its world. The story follows a girl named September with a split soul. Able to walk in the world of the living and the world of the dead, September has the ability to harness Death and use it to change the fate of others. Created by M Lazar and Marc Silvestri/ Top Cow Comics.” As you can see from the pics and reading their description above, this is not just a band on stage, it is theater.

When you see a September Mourning show you get whisked into a story, and it is a visual and auditory journey. This was the first time I have seen the band live. I had heard the music and loved it, but to see the show I was blown away. It was an experience; a Vegas show meets Rock Metal. I went curious and left a fan. Hit their next show and see for yourself.
