Sea Knight's show at the Night Light in Oakland.

On Tuesday, Dec. 10 Sea Knight played a set at the Night Light in Oakland. This is the last show of the year for this new four piece indie band from San Francisco that plays alternating styles of rock accompanied with mesmerizing vocals. Sea Knight is Linda Sao (guitars, vocals), Cory Aboud (drums), Patrick Andrews (guitar), Sami Hiromi (bass).

Sea Knight is the first band to play at the Night Light tonight. Drummer Cory Aboud kicks off the show with a steady foundation beat to the vocal enchanting song “Silver Lining”. Subsequently Sea Knight plays the fluctuating “Chasm”, a mostly instrumental tune that varies from murky slow moving harmonies with a touch of wailing to heavy beats and up-tempo rock. After a quick introduction from frontwoman Linda Sao, they play the short “Banking On Things”. “Banking On Things” is a slow moving song that matches the vocals of Linda Sao in harmony with the music and leaves the crowd wanting to hear more. The song receives a much deserved applause from the crowd. Next up is “Ahead Of Time”, the tune meshes mid-tempo alternative rock with touching lyrics and the steady unwavering voice of Linda Sao. Right after “Ahead of Time”, they play the shimmering slow-tempo “Tables Turn”. Sea Knight finishes out their set with “Crows Came and Spoke of New Beginnings” and “Concrete”. “Crows Came and Spoke of New Beginnings” is another mostly instrumental alternative rock song with bright tones that shows off the howling vocals of Linda Sao. The last song of the night titled “Concrete” is a solid vocal charged rock number.

Sea Knight’s live music repertoire consists of songs with oscillating tempos, dreary to bright tones and remarkable howls and wails. Frontwoman Linda Sao’s vocals are much more than a voice but a distinct instrument that nicely compliments the style of rock music they play. For fans of rock and alternative rock, Sea Knight is a show to see. This new indie band from San Francisco is also looking to release their EP in early 2014 and you can find out when, and where they will be playing their release show for it at
