Final Exam

The 80s was a great time for horror churning out some of the greatest slasher films ever and of course some not so great ones. Now Scream Factory is bringing 1981s slasher fun film, Final Exam to Blu-ray for the first time and ready to slashs its way into fans collections.

Final Exam follows a small college in North Carolina, where only a select few students are left to take mid-terms, but when a killer strikes, it could be everyone's final exam. As far as slasher films go this one does exactly what it sets out to do, but as a whole is never able to really step out of the shadows of the more popular entries into the genre. This one sports all of the clich├ęd characters and scenarios that were par for the course during this time and hits its mark on all of these levels. As a whole it works fine complete with some fun kills, but the biggest thing missing is some sort of twist or reveal for the killer. It is cool when there is no actual reasoning, but it has to fold into the character in some way and here it just seemed too generic. Despite its shortcomings this still manages to be a fun addition to the slasher genre and one that any gore hound will surely want as a part of their collection.

In addition to this killer horror classic, this Blu-ray features numerous special features including commentaries, interviews, trailers and a transfer of the film from the original camera negative that is sure to make this a must have for any horror fan.
