Scotch-Brite Heavy Duty Scrub Sponges

The Scotch-Brite Corporation has recently released their newest product on the market. The “Scotch-Brite Heavy Duty Scrub Sponge” is their latest sponge that has been designed with summer and grilling in mind.

A great grilling tool to have handy
Scotch-Brite: Used with permission

This is now the end of the summer season and in some areas people will be putting up their grills after the Labor Day blow out parties. The best way to put your grill away is if it is clean. Not only is this healthy and a good habit to get into but it will also protect the grates, keep rodents from trying to get inside during the winter months and protect that grill cover you purchased to keep the elements off your prize outdoor cooking tool.

This new heavy duty scrub sponge is wonderful. It not only is made by the best and most reputable company around it takes the challenge of burnt on food, grease and residue that is usually left behind after a full cooking session on the grill.

The sponge is two-tone. One side is a dark green color that has the abrasive power to tackle the toughest mess. This scrubby side is also gentle if you forget which sponge you have in your hand and happen to clean a pot or pan in the kitchen with it when you open the package. You don’t have to worry about it scratching the surface of your precious cookware.

The other side of the sponge is yellow and is what you would consider typical when you purchase a sponge. This side will clean all the utensils beautifully after the barbecue is over so they can be put away in a cabinet or drawer until next year.

Currently the “Scotch-Brite Heavy Duty Scrub Sponges” are available at Amazon as well as Wal-Mart stores. In fact Wal-Mart right now is having a sale on this particular sponge and has included some of the other Scotch-Brite sponges that have been on the market over the years.

When you open the package you will notice that the sponge actually has a wet feeling to it. This is normal. When sponges are manufactured they are lightly wetted just before they are packaging. This process actually extends the life of the sponge and prevents them from drying out; getting hard or splitting the cellulose portion, in this case the yellow side of the sponge. The cellulose of the sponge is derived from wood pulp which is a greener way of producing a product and is a renewal resource.

The sponge is them placed in an air-tight plastic package to keep the moisture in the sponge. Not just any water is used prior to packaging. The water used to dampen the sponges is distilled and purified to ensure that no bacteria gets sealed when the sponge is placed in its wrapper preventing it from being a breeding group for germs.

This product is recommended and has been found to get the job done without having to use a lot of elbow grease to get the grill, pots, pans, utensils or dishes cleaned properly.

Some other Scotch-Brite sponges that are on the market are:

  • Non-Scratch Scrub Sponge: Great for non-stick cookware.
  • Delicate Care Scrub Sponge: Safe for china and crystal and other delicate surfaces.
  • Stay Clean Sponge: Specially designed so food particles won’t stick such as cheese or eggs.

Greener Clean Sponge: A new line for the “Greener Cleaning” line that is eco-friendly with a natural look and color that is an effective cleaning tool and made of recycled plant-based materials which is environmentally friendly.

  • If you need to clean your sponge at any time just make sure it is free of food particles and squeezed out completely. Then place it in the microwave on high for 2 minutes with a cup of water or just throw it into the dishwasher and it will also sanitize it and be ready and clean to reuse once again.

Try out the new “Scotch-Brite Heavy Duty Scrub Sponge” and get ready for a real clean with ease!
