Schwindy's indie music spotlight: Neverwonder

If you were to try and describe Neverwonder to someone, probably the best way to do it is to call it a rock n soul band. The soul part is evident immediately in Alima soul's vocals. The way she belts out the vocals in "Help Me" reminds me of Lisa Kekaula of The Bellrays. In fact, The BellRays is pretty decent comparison this band. Both bands have soulful vocals over rock melodies although The BellRays are a bit louder than Neverwonder.
Alima does a good job singing these songs written by former Neverwonder vocalist Megan Bobo, but she doesn't do anything to make them her own. The songs are well done, but the band didn't really do anything different with these songs than when Let it Out was released in 2010. Still, if you like rock bands with a healthy amount of soul, check out Neverwonder.

Neverwonder plays the Pasadena Rock n Roll Marathon tomorrow (17 February) from 8:45 to 9:15 AM.
