Scarecrows come to life at Coney Island's Luna Park

Luna Park hosted a spooky Halloween with scarecrows that came to life, exciting rides and lots of other fun for the entire family. Coney Island's Luna Park hosted a Halloween that Brooklyn would never forget. Their theme this year were scarecrows, just the sound of it "brings chills up your spine" said one family that attended.

The park was redesigned to resemble an authentic haunted trail leading into a desolate cornfield within an abandoned amusement park. The designer of the new attraction, Timothy Haskell — did a great job on creating the eeriness of an abandoned amusement park. the courageous attendees who found themselves tip toeing around every corner of the cornfield wondering what was lurking behind the abandoned spinning tea cups ride, or the hidden dark crevices that kept you full of frigntened anticipation.

There was constant moaning of the dead playing throughout the park, there was an eery fog that crept around every corner and bale of hay. the hay bales were stacked at evey side of the 15,000 acre amusement park. Also added for more horror effect was shutting down the surrounding area, it was deserted like a ghost town.

The $25 admission price made it well worth it as well.  The haunted maze would be considered a little tame for most die hard horror and goth fans, but great for the kids. They really seemed to get a charge out of the haunted maze, some adults even came out screaming. The best part for most of the spectators were the unlimited amazing rides.

Such as: the exclusive Air Ride, the only one of it's kind in the world, seemed to spin you every way but loose before bringing you back to the ground. Plus I was told by a very helpful member of the staff that "it is one of the safest and smoothest rides you would ever encounter." Luna Park is flat out amazeing! the highlight of the 'Nights of Terror' this past weekend at Luna Park was a desolate haunted maze overrun with demented scarecrows, zombie-farmers and creepy ghouls stalking the walls and crevises of a ghostly trail that winds through an assortment of surprisingly menacing rides.

The haunted maze although not as elaborate or as intense as many popular, and more expensive, haunted houses in NYC. There  were still plenty of heart-skipping moments to remember: One scarecrow menaced you with an ear of corn after you passed through a thick haze of smoke.

Another offered up a nasty pig’s head, One ghoul who could easily fit in one of the classic Dead movies, lunged at you with a pair of bloody cleavers. The finale, without a doubt was the most memorable moment, as you were about to exit the spooky maze two scarecrows came at you from both sides wielding chainsaws at your head, classic Texas Chainsaw Massacre style! I couldn't get out of that maze quick enough. The walk through the maze took roughly 10 minutes to wander through the haunted cornfields, but at the same time it seemed like you would never get out of that maze alive. The $25 admission price was well worth it.
