Ever since Saturday, October 11, 1975, Saturday Night Lives were never the same.
They got better.
Saturday Night Live has become a cultural landmark. With a total of 745 episodes over its first 38 seasons, the show is a veritable treasure trove of recurring characters, catchphrases and memorable comedic and musical moments. Over the years, SNL has also provided a running commentary on American culture, politics and society.
Saturday Night Live FAQ (Applause Theatre, $24.99) is the first book to take readers through the show’s long and storied history, episode by episode. Starting with the show’s creator Lorne Michaels and the “Not Ready for Prime Time Players”, SNL FAQ illustrates just how Saturday Night Live quickly became the epicenter of American comedy, winning over the hearts of the American public with its subversive, cutting-edge satire. The book includes comedic highlights and low points, controversial moments, film shorts, hosts and musical guests, along with profiles of more 100 SNL cast members and a comprehensive guide detailing every episode.
Devoted fans can relive classic skits, such as “Coneheads,” “Cheeburger, Cheeburger,” and “Two Wild and Crazy Guys,” and others performed by John Belushi, Chevy Chase, Dan Aykroyd, Gilda Radner, Steve Martin, and Eddie Murphy. Newer comedy greats such as Amy Poehler, Tina Fey, Andy Samberg, and Bill Hader are just as memorable, whether they’re playing Sarah Palin, starring in the Emmy-winning SNL Digital Shorts, or appearing as Weekend Update’s flamboyant correspondent Stefon.
Saturday Night Live FAQ leaves no comedic stone unturned, offering readers the complete SNL package.
