Samuel Smith Oatmeal Stout

Samuel Smith Brewery in Tadcaster, England is one of the few remaining independent brewers left in England. They concentrate on high quality ales and even a lager. Their Samuel Smith Oatmeal Stout 5%abv. is considered the benchmark oatmeal stout that others try to match. It pours black into the glass with a rich tan head. Malty aromas blend with espresso and dark chocolate in the glass. Its flavors are dark cacao and espresso with toasted malt and a crisp hoppy finish. I prefer to drink this beer on its own, but for a real treat pour into a glass and top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an indulgent adult ice cream float. Yummy!
