Three More Days and Then it's Gone for Another Year!
Not my usual pastime, but I was interested to see what all the "hubbub" is about. This is, after all, the 26th annual Sacramento ISE show! By the time we arrived on opening day -- just before 11a.m. -- there was already a big crowd. No surprise, mostly men. Ladies, c'mon down!
You don't have to hunt or fish to enjoy this show. Though clearly that's the biggest draw. There are boats, pop-up tents and trailers; destinations and tour companies; and even culinary delights. I'm not going to candy coat this. There were lots of...MANY...hunting companies and hunting related merchandise. Taxidermied animals, fish and birds. Guns, fishing equipment, knives, ATVs, guides, and supporting associations. A large portion of outdoor recreation is devoted to this and ISE is Mecca!
With more than 600 vendors there's something for everyone. How about checking out the latest Cocoons eyewear (my personal faves); binoculars, or even a new cowboy hat? Amazing art by Flydrawings.com and pack trips into Yellowstone National Park provided by Sunrise Pack Station. Some of my favorite California adventure destinations were in attendance: Mono County and Mammoth Lakes, Alpine County, and the California Delta. There was even organic Aloe Cream!
A favorite vendor was the Alpha K9 organization who trains working dogs of all kinds but also provides dogs for veterans suffering from post traumatic stress syndrome.
We had a great time. Ate and drank. Saw some old friends and made some new friends. Looking for something different this weekend...head for Cal Expo and the 26th Annual Sacramento International Sportsmen's Exposition.
