Surrounded by vast desert and mountain ranges, Fernley RV Park sits in the quiet town of Fernley, Nevada, with a population around 15,000. Its location at the juncture of Interstate 80 and U.S. Highways 50 and 95A makes it a convenient spot to spend a night or two before heading west to Reno, Lake Tahoe and California or south to Las Vegas.

For RV work campers participating in the Camperforce Program at the Fernley facility, Fernley RV Park is by far the best park to stay at.

Highlights: The sites in Fernley RV Park have concrete pads that accommodate both the RV and vehicle, plus a small lawn with picnic table. Onsite propane offers a huge plus for those staying long-term, such as work campers. While amenities, such as laundry facilities and bathhouse, are basic, they are clean and well-maintained. The staff's friendliness and focus on customer service add to the comfort of staying here. All of the town's stores, services, entertainment and restaurants are within two miles.

Area attractions: A highlight is watching wild horses run free on the vast Bureau of Land Management terrain around Fernley. In town, casinos offer gaming and live entertainment. Reno's attractions are just 30 miles to the west in Reno. Among them are casinos, Legends shopping complex and Scheels Sporting Goods, which features a 65-foot Ferris Wheel, aquariums and sports simulators.

Basis of Rating: Fernley RV Park offers quality amenities and a pleasant setting in a well-managed, well-maintained RV park. Its friendly staff is focused on customer service. Paved roads and concrete pads minimize the dust in this desert environment, adding to the cleaniness. By far, this is the best RV park in the immediate area.

Take Interstate 25 north to Cheyenne, Wyo., Interstate 80 west to Fernley, Nev., take Exit 46 south onto Main Street, take the first left into the park. Fernley RV Park's address is 550 West Main St.
