Cedar Rail RV Park & Campground

Situated atop Raton Pass, Cedar Rail RV Park & Campground offers RVers a comfortable and scenic way station off Interstate 25. Its location 190 miles south of Denver, offers a scenic place between Santa Fe, N.M. and Denver, Colo. to cool your engine after the climb up Raton Pass and to enjoy natural beauty before heading into a metropolis.

Highlights: The RV park looks onto a grand vista of mesas, mountain ranges, volcanic plugs, pinyon pine forests, and dramatic skies. The views are stunning throughout the day, and stars carpet the night sky.

Location: Cedar Rail RV Park & Campground is located on Raton Pass at the Colorado-New Mexico border, off Interstate 25 Exit 460. Don’t be confused by the weigh station signs. Things to consider: If you do not have a passenger vehicle, stock up on supplies at Raton, New Mexico, or Trinidad, Colorado, before arriving at the park to avoid climbing the pass in your RV more than necessary. A tow vehicle makes it easier to explore the area's historic, cultural and recreational activities. Heed the advice about storing food in bear country.

Area attractions: Explore the historic district of Trinidad, Colo., which is the southernmost city in Colorado off Interstate 25 and about 13 miles from Raton Pass. Art galleries, historic homes, and museums relate its rich history, especially during the peak years of the Santa Fe Trail. A Colorado Welcome Center is also located here. Sugarite Canyon State Park near Raton, N.M. and Lake Trinidad State Park near Trinidad offer hiking, fishing and other outdoor recreational activities.
