By now, runDisney has completed it's run of races for its annual Marathon weekend, including it's inaugural Dopey Challenge at Walt Disney World.
The races take you through magical parts of the parks.
Although the annual event draws hordes of walkers and runners, what many people forget is that it draws friends and families to the parks during a time which, more than a decade ago, traditionally was a quiet time in the resort. This can swell park attendance and lines at the parks since runDisney participants will bring their family and friends.
If you're not a runDisney participant, but you're staying on Disney resort property, you may want to double check the routes for the races and times because the events can still impact you.
For example, if you're staying at the Fort Wilderness campground, you may find yourself blasted awake with music in the early morning hours. If you're staying anywhere during the race route, plan ahead for traffic snarls as some routes are closed off or restricted for vehicular traffic.
These events are not inexpensive, but they offer fun with family and friends. They're a five-star way of running and enjoying theme parks.
If you're thinking of participating though book early because the slots for walking and racing fill up fast.
