Route 666 (2001)

B horror movies are very near and dear to me. They have always held a special place in my heart. So when I discovered a movie called Route 666 (starring Lou Diamond Phillips [The Big Hit] and Lori Petty [Tank Girl]) I knew that I just had to watch this film. The important thing to remember when watching a B movie is that it's like a grab bag, sometimes is fantastic but sometimes it's a total dud.

According to the film description on "Smith, a mob informer hanging out in the witness protection program, decides to make a break for it and hide out in the Arizona desert. The Feds catch up with him and rescue him just before a group of hit men can manage to silence him for good. In the course of getting Smith away from the mafia thugs, the pair of agents assigned to protect him turn onto an abandoned stretch of highway nicknamed 'Route 666' after the mysterious death of a prison chain gang. As the three continue on their way, they soon discover what happened to the chain gang, and how the highway earned its name."

I absolutely loved this movie. It was incredibly original and creative. The special effects in this film were outstanding (particularly the makeup used to make the chain gang members look like they were actually part of the road.)

Overall, I give this movie a four star rating and highly recommend it to fans of B horror movies.
