Rosso Piceno: A perfect pasta night wine for your dinner table

From the Marches region in central Italy, the Saladini Pilastri Rosso Piceno D.O.C. 2010 is a delicious red blend and a must try Italian wine. Made with organic grapes, the blend is 80 percent Sangiovese/20 percent Montepulciano. In the glass, the wine has a gorgeous deep ruby color and an inviting nose of red berries and earth. The lusciously dry red fruit flavor profile, with notes of tobacco and spice is well structured. Soft tannins and a palate-friendly mouth feel lead to a mellow and satisfying finish. The Saladini Pilastri Rosso Piceno 2010 pairs beautifully with stuffed rigatoni, lasagna with meat sauce or ravioli. Also enjoy with antipasto plates and charcuterie.

The Marches is a region in central Italy that borders the Adriatic Sea on the east and lies between Emilia-Romagna and Abruzzi. It contains 10 DOC areas including Rosso Conero, Rosso Piceno, Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi and Verdiccho di Matelica. Montepulciano and Sangiovese are the primary red grapes of the region.

The Pilastri family has a long and rich history in the region, dating back to the year 1000. A noble family from Ascoli Piceno, their fascinating family history includes ancestors who were priests and leaders.
