On Wednesday February 6, 2013 rockers Nonpoint killed it at The Knitting Factory Concert House in Reno along with openers Candlelight Red, Digital Summer and Dedvolt.
Nonpoint is an American heavy metal band formed in 1997. The band currently consists of vocalist Elias Soriano, drummer Robb Rivera, guitarists Rasheed Thomas and Dave Lizzio, and bassist Adam Woloszyn. They are currently signed with Razor & Tie and released their first album ";Separate Yourself" in December of 1998 and their most recent album "Nonpoint" on October 9, 2012.
Attendance for this show was fairly good for a very cold Wednesday night in downtown Reno, about 300 fans were in attendance.
Nonpoint really had the crowd going the whole time as they played many of their hits. Lead singer Soriano really has a great stage presence and knows how to work the crowd very well. This band is very impressive to watch.
Their set lasted over 60 minutes and went like this,
"Lights Camera Action", "Hands Off", "Alive And Kicking", "That Day", "Pandoras Box", "What A Day", "I Said It", "In The Air Tonight", "The Truth", "Miracle", "Left For You", "To The Pain", "Buscandome" and "Bullet".
These guys really know how to put on a great show, this examiner was very impressed.
Also on the bill were, Candlelight Red from Williamsport, Pa.
Hard rock with melodic hooks and killer riffs is the style that Central Pennsylvania natives Candlelight Red specialize in. As evidenced by their full-length debut, "The Wreckage". The group turned heads straight away, by beating out over 10,000 other bands to win the 2010 national Guitar Center “Onstage” contest, which landed them an opening slot for KISS. Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley of KISS specifically chose the band from among 22 regional contest winners. As a result, CLR had the honor of opening a show for KISS in Pittsburgh in late 2010. They are currently signed with Imagen Records.
Current members include, Ryan Hoke-(Vocals), Jeremy Edge-(guitar, backing vocals), Jamie Morral-(bass, backing vocals) and Brian Dugan-(drums).
CLR's set lasted around 30 minutes and went like this,
"In Your Hands", "Cutter", "Like A Disease", "Medicated", "The Look", "Closer" and "Demons".
These guys were awesome. Candlelight Red is one of rock's most promising upcoming groups and worth the ticket price.
Candlelight Red will be back at the Knit opening for Sevendust on March 22, 2013
Opening for Candlelight Red was a band from Phoenix, AZ. called Digital Summer.
Current members are, Kyle Winterstein-(vocals), Ian Winterstein-(guitar), Anthony "Guido" Hernandez-(bass), Jon "Bubba" Stephenson-(guitar) and Ben Anderson- (drums).
Digital Summer's set lasted around 30 minutes and went just like this,
"Disconnect", "Dance In The Fire", "Suffocate", "Broken Halo", "Forget You" and "Just Run".
Digital Summer played a very good set, during which they invited a 12 year old drummer who they found on youtube named Austin Rios to join them onstage to jam on a couple of songs. The kid rocked it, very impressive. This is not a band you want to miss the next time they come to town.
Also playing were Sacramento's own DEDVOLT. (sorry, but this examiner missed this band)
This examiner can say, "this was a very good show, even for a very cold Wednesday night". A good time was had by all.
