This laugh riot adventure will entertain you with lots of dancing and singing. Back in the party town of Rio de Janeiro, the gang from the first film “Rio” is back, but this time they are trying to locate where the rare breed of the Blue Macaws live.
Tulio (Rodrigo Santoro) and Linda (Leslie Mann) are travelling along the Amazon to return a wild bird back to its natural habit, after it was rehabilitated in their bird sanctuary. While they are on safari they decide to try and locate the rare Blue Macaws hiding place. Later they uncover that the loggers have gone further down the river and now jeopardize to extinguish their rare wildlife habit. They discover that the rainforest is in danger and threatens to be destroyed forever, making it impossible for these rare breeds of birds to survive.
Blu (Jesse Eisenberg) and Jewel (Anne Hathaway) now have three kids Carla (Rachel Crow), Tiago (Pierce Gagnon) and Eva (Bebel Gilberto). Jewel is trying to make sure the kids learn the ways of the wild, while Blu is still stuck with relying on people for everything. While watching the news they learn that there might be a Blue Macaw bird habit in the Amazon, so Jewel convinces Blu that they must locate it. Blu insists on using his modern tools to locate the habit and it sends them on a wild adventure. When they finally arrive they run into Jewel’s family, her father Eduardo (Andy Garcia), childhood friend Roberto (Bruno Mars), Aunt Mimi (Rita Moreno), and the rest of her family.
The rest of the gang is in search of the greatest theatre production of all time. Nico (Jamie Foxx), Luiz (Tracy Morgan), Pedro (Will i Am), and Rafael (George Lopez) are conducting auditions to find the right talent to star in their upcoming show. Looking for that right act is consuming Pedro and Nico’s time, while Rafael is certain he has found the right talent.
Nigel (Jemaine Clement) is now forcefully working for a street vendor and is looking for a chance to escape and seek his revenge on Blu. When his chance comes, he partners up with his new friends Gabi (Kristin Chenoweth), a poisonous frog and Charlie, a non-speaking anteater. Together they set out to locate Blu and his family and seek his vengeance.
Director Carlos Saldanha brings these loveable characters back and takes the story one step further. He transports the rare birds into the jungles of the Amazon to find their long lost flock, but they run into people who are destroying these treasured lands. An excellent storyline that will help people realize what is happening to our rainforests and how important it is to preserve and save them for generations to come.
This is a fantastic film for all ages and will certainly entertain the whole family. It includes a message that clearly states how important our rainforests are to the wildlife that exists on this planet. The story brings you on an adventure that will explore the riches that Brazil has to offer to the world and still leave you laughing.
Final Grade: I give this an A- for its original storyline that states the importance of our earth’s treasures along with excellent animation and a fantastic musical affair.
