Josie Brown explores the backstabbing world of an elite playgroup in her new ebook series, “Totlandia.” The books start with “The Onesies,” the moms’ first year in the club, with fall, winter, spring and summer editions to be released. "The Twosies" through "The Fivesies" will follow in subsquent years.
The series follows four women eager to join San Francisco’s prestigious Pacific Heights Moms & Tots Club, where designer strollers, couture toddler outfits and über-competitive mothers reign. This isn't just any playgroup; parents treat membership as a ticket to future success, both for their children and themselves.
Instead of voting on the moms and babies eager to join the one-year-old class ("The Onesies"), Bettina, the controlling leader of the group, decides to make it a competition. Strict rules against working moms and single moms and a rigorous application process mean major nerves for the women trying to get in; even Bettina's own sister-in-law, Lorna, isn't guaranteed a spot. The prospective members are put through various challenges to prove who’s worthy of being part of the group – but with affairs, pending divorces, secret jobs and unsavory pasts, each wannabe member hides something that could blow her chances for good.
Like the characters in reality shows such as “Dance Moms,” the women in Pacific Heights might be over-the-top, but in the end the best interests of their kids are (almost) always at heart. Laugh-out-loud funny and sometimes touching, the "Totlandia" novellas serve as the perfect quick read for busy moms or anyone looking to escape with some gossipy fun.
The ebook series is available at Amazon.
